“Gallo Rojo” and ‘Una Mujer italiana’ are the winners of the ninth edition of the Calella Film Festival.

“Gallo Rojo “ has been awarded as the best film of the Calella Film Festival in the Low Budget section -with a budget of less than one million euros- and ”Una mujer italiana “ has won the prize for best film in the Creative Rosebud section, with no budget limit.

They were considered the best films of the edition, although “The King of Spades ” was the only one to win two awards: Best Actor for Joshua Glenister and Best Director for Matthew Fearney, both in the Low Budget section.

The festival’s award, the Llopa, went to the Catalan actress Núria Prims, one of the protagonists of the Catalan film “Un sol radiant”. It was born as a final project of six students of Audiovisual Communication of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, but it has made a place in the world of Catalan cinema with awards such as the Talents of the festival A Film or the best feature film at the International Film Festival in Catalan.

The awards ceremony closed the ninth edition of the Calella Film Festival, dedicated to “Star Wars” and bringing to Calella the characters of one of the science fiction series with more followers around the world.

  • Best actress: Aleida Torrent – “SinÉl”
  • Best screenplay: Antonella Spirito for “The House That Stood”.
  • Special mention: “Mai parlarem de nosaltres”.

Creative Rosebud section

  • Best actress: Núria Prims for “Un sol radiant”.
  • Best Actor: Bohdan Benyuk in “My Carpathian Grandpa”.
  • Best film: “Una mujer italiana”.
  • Best director: Monia Chokri for “Simple comme Sylvain”.
  • Best screenplay: Álex Montoya and Joana M. Ortueta for “La casa”.
  • Best original script: Andrés Beltrán

Sant Pol and Arenys, also theirs of the festival

In addition to the Sala Mozart, the Calella Film Festival has also held screenings in neighboring towns such as Sant Pol, at the Akira Cine Club, and at the Teatre Principal of Arenys de Mar.

In total, about twenty films have been screened, among those nominated and those out of competition. The book “El Totò de Vilallonga. Memoirs of a cinema operator”.
