The third edition of the Calella Film Festival is consolidated with a jury made up of such important personalities as Agustí Villaronga, Jaume Balagueró, Barbara Goenaga and Cristina Campos, among others.

This morning, the mayor of Calella, Montserrat Candini, the director of the Calella Film Festival, Jonathan Ruiz, and the president of the Rosebud Association of Cinema Lovers, Albert Guinart, presented the third edition of the Calella Film Festival, to be held from June 22 to July 1. Once again, the festival aims to reward the talent and effort of those who with few resources manage to make a quality film.

As explained by the director of the Calella Film Festival, Jonathan Ruiz, and the president of the Rosebud Association of Film Lovers, Albert Guinart, the festival will consist of three competitive sections, as well as activities, courses and workshops. As a main course of the festival it will deliver the “Low Budget Award” where more than 100 international films have taken part and which aims to reward low-cost productions and emerging directors. On the other hand, continuing with the good reception it had in the previous edition, the “Creative Rosebud Awards” , where will be awarded productions that exceed the economic limit that marks the festival itself and thus avoid being left out Very interesting projects that remain “low budget”. Finally, focused on a younger audience, the “48-hour limit” will be awarded, where short, recorded and edited short films will participate in just 48 hours. As a novelty this year, students from film schools also participate.

The program of the festival goes further and also includes workshops, lectures, interpretation classes, exhibitions, collaborations with Calella City of Catalan Basketball 2017 and with the Association of Merchants and outdoor film screenings. Also, in this edition we want to highlight the role of women in the cinema and that is why it has been called “Women’s Edition” . And for the more daring, it should be noted that the screening on Sunday 24 of the movie “IT” will be preceded by a tunnel of terror.

On the other hand, the mayor of Calella, Montserrat Candini, stressed that the Calella Film Festival “arises from the mix between the knowledge and passion of the members of the Rosebud Association of Film Lovers” . He also remembered that “the best essence of making a city, is what they do from the Calella Film Festival, the collaboration with the Calella Basketball Club and with the Merchants Association is the best essence of creativity, the experience and the knowledge and the whole make city “ . Also, as a woman, she was very happy that this third edition is considered Women’s Edition.
