Paul Urkijo
Film director from Vitoria-Gasteiz, born in 1984 and passionate about drawing and stories since he was little. Begin to learn about literature, comics and cinema, especially fantasy. He is an avid reader of mythology and traditional stories.In 2008 he graduated in Fine Arts and began making audiovisuals, illustrations and infographics professionally, and began writing and making fiction and animated short films.In 2016 he wrote, produced and directed his first feature film, Errementari, a fantastic film based on the story “Patxi Errementaria”, winner of the Best Film award at the Calella Film Festival in 2019. His second feature film, IRATI (2022), is a epic film based on Basque mythology and the medieval history of the Basque Country.Both films, directed and written by Paul, have won more than 100 national and international awards and have been selected more than 400 times worldwide.
He also writes and directs several short films: Dar-dar 2020, Naara 2015, El bosque negro 2013, Los monstruos no existen 2011, Debajo de la cama Zera 2010, Jugando con la muerte 2010, Cuchillo, McGregor y el Vasco 2008, El pez plomo 2007, Iltzeak/Clavos 2005.
